Sorry,
It was only a question from my side... nothing more.
English isn't my birth language so I didn't get the joke quickly. But anyway they weren't 40 000 but 400 000 and they didn't stay at table, they went to the cellars too for a drink and on and on....

Coincidence or not the director of both is Wolfgang Paterson
I´m study in profundity since 1990 or 1991 the Kriegsmarine and in especially the UbootWaffe.

Triumph of the Will.

A master piece of its time and an important historical record.
But ...when you look at it what does Hitler actually say ...very little .
The goose stepping and hero worship from the HJ.
It foes not really show Germany in its best light or the german soldier in the best light.
It shows more the nature of a dictatorship and the loss of the voice of the German people.
" Life , to be sure is nothing much to loose ; But young men think it is , and we were young . "
A.E. Housman.

Q.Why are all the roads in France lined with tree's?

A.So the German soldiers can march in the shade.
You need to take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror, and give yourself an uppercut!

We will never see a movie made from an honest German perspective regarding WW2. The climate is too politically charged to allow that sort of thing to happen. The movie would have to warp its entire message to go out of its way to "teach" the audience how bad the Germans were.

Das Boot is the best for me. A real masterpiece.
Next to that Cross of Iron.

I'd agree completely. Das Boot is simply a masterpiece that depicts the true toils of life on board a U-Boat. You cannot help but feel sympathy and compassion for the characters, as well as the sailors and officers who actually experienced the sea war in reality. I'm also currently reading the book, by Lothar-Guenther Buchheim. Those U-Boat men were brave, brave souls.

Edelweiss
