Hello, I am researching all about U-853. If anybody has some info on it (Crew lists, Patrol Lists, etc) please contact me or post it in this topic. Thanks!

Here is some info on the U-853:
In august 1944 Korvkpt. Kuhnke was commander of the 10th flotilla. He went back to Germany with U-853(left Lorient in France on 27 august 1944 and reached Flensburg on 14 october 1944)
-Laid down in august 21 1942
-Commisssioned in june 25 1943
-Commanders:
-Kptl. Helmut Sommer
-Obtl. Helmut Fromsdorf
-Obtl. Otto Wermuth
-Korvkpt. Gunther Kuhnke
-The U-853 sunk 2 ships for a total of 5.783 tons.
-The fate of the U-853: He was sunk on may 6 1945 in North Atlantic south-east of New London by depth charges from a US destroyer. About 55 dead(all hands lost)

Try the U Boat Archives, there address is on U Boat.net, they are a registered charity in Germany with records of all U Boats that ever sailed. They should have the war diaries crew list ect. Also check out the NARA in Maryland USA you'll get their address from the internet, they hold war diaries on microfilm for most of the boat 39 USdollers a roll. Try these first if you need any further help get in touch.
