I am currently researching the military career of my grandfather Monnier Lucien.
Born on 1/4/1927 in Metz (France). Forced into the German army in 1944.
he was transferred to
panzergrenadier-ersatz- und ausbildungs-bataillon 76 according to the lists of 8/01/1945.
He would have done two months of classes in Denmark at Kjellerup.
He then allegedly joined the front in Poland.
Lucien was allegedly decorated with the iron cross in 1945 (date unknown).
Listening to 5/1945, knowing that he was surrounded by Soviet forces, he would have buried his medals and all his papers....
he was taken prisoner
And sent to a Soviet camp in Stettin.
As a result, he escaped and returned to France in June 1944.
Do you have all the information about my grandfather, about this regiment, the battle sites, and about this prison camp in Stettin.

But, how explain the fact that he returnd to France in june 1944 while he escaped from an Russain POW camp in 1945 ?
