Max Hansen
Does anyone know what happened to Max Hansen (LSSAH) after the war? I understand he retired to Flensburg, but beyond that I know nothing about him.
Sadly.
I found these few line in Michale Reyonlds " Steel Inferno , page 286.
"Max Hansen became an SS Colonel in February 1945. After the war he and his wife ran a cleaning shop in Niebull but he spent his last three or four years as little more than a living corpse - "his brain and soul already being in Valhalla" as a comrade put it".
One can only have the utmost sympathy for Herr Hansen and his family , life can be extremely cruel in the twilight of our years.
Rest in Peace.

Apart from Meyer and Peiper, who have? There's nothing on Wisch, Mohnke, Schönberger, Kuhlmann, Pötschke, Gross, Frey, Schiller, Kraas, Sandig, Becker, Knittel, Rettlinger or Ullerich to name a few. Hansens lacking biography is in good company.M.H. wrote:Most commanders of the LSSAH got their book/exhausting bio about them but not him. I wonder why?
