Whermacht coordinate system

Hello,

I tried searching the forum before asking, but I couldn't find anything about this. However, I don't rule out the possibility that the topicmay have been already discussed and I just failed to locate it.
When I read the "meldung" of Whermacht Divisions, I often came across location reference written as "Punkt 1734 [usually only four numbers]" for example. What do these refers to? Are they coordinates? How are they interpreted?
