Encyclopédie de l'Ordre Nouveau Volume 13

Post by encyclo-collab »

After almost a year's wait (due to side projects), G. Bouysse announces the release of volume 13 of the main series of the "Encyclopédie de l'Ordre Nouveau", devoted to the VENDEE.
For the first time, the history of the so-called "New Order" parties and movements is exhaustively studied in this department of western France. A region often neglected in general works (and collective memory) on the Second World War, in favor of more emblematic ones (Limousin, Vercors, Midi).

However, the organizations present at national level are also present: Milice Française (from May to August 1944); PPF; RNP; Francisme; Légion des Volontaires Français; Groupe Collaboration, Comité Ouvrier de Secours Immédiat.
Not to be forgotten are the French under German uniform in the département: LVF, Waffen-SS, NSKK, Kriegsmarine WerftPolizei, Organisation Todt, etc.

Like many lowland departments on the west coast of France, political moderation was the order of the day in the pre-war period. Resistance fighters and maquis were less prone to violent action and summary purges than, for example, in many departments of the Midi or in regions with a reputation for maquis (Limousin, Massif Central, and other hilly areas more conducive to the development of maquis centers). On the other hand, Collaboration movements (mainly the Milice and PPF)

On the other hand, Collaboration movements (mainly the Milice and PPF) were more limited in their repressive actions than elsewhere.
Extra-legal purges were limited in the Vendée, with at least 21 victims. And 2 people were shot after being sentenced to death by the Court of Justice.

For this study, the fonds of the Vendée Court of Justice (coats 111 W 595 to 615) and the Vendée Civic Chamber (coats 111 W 617 to 625) - held at the Vienne departmental archives - were my main source. The Vendée Court of Justice (and Civic Chamber) operated until July 20, 1945, and cases still to be tried were are transferred to the Vienne Court of Justice (coasts 111 W 153 to 321: files with convictions; 111 W 324 to 359, Vienne Civic Chamber). Several coasts from the W series of the Vendée departmental archives were also consulted.

In all, 150 portraits are presented in this work (around 70% "political" profiles, and 30% "military"), complete and detailed organization charts, abundant documentation, and around a hundred photos (almost all previously unpublished).
