I have received a letter from Berlin and need help with the translation/location. The letter states "Gefallen: 17.01.1943 bei Gordojewo/UdSSR." What I do not understand is " Seine letzte Ruhestatte fand er in der Ortsmitte von Mal-Korytnja, 30 km sudlich von Beljy." What does "Ruhestatte" mean and I have not been able to locate "Mal-Korytnja and Beljy on a map. Any help would be appreciated.
The SS-Kavallerie-Division fought in January 1943 under the XXXXI. Panzer-Korps in the Rzhev area west of Moscow. The town Belyov lies south-west of Rzhev, almost in between Smolensk and Rzhev. I hope this helps you narrow the other geographical places down.

You'll find Korytnya (Mal- should most probably be something like Maly = little). As said in your letter from Berlin, it's approx. 30km south of Belyy (see Doktor Krollspell's post). Hope that helps.
