Guderians memoirs certainly nowhere pretend that he invented the theory of offensive armoured warfare. Neither does he pretend to have invented a new operational concept. He describes how he gained a conviction about how tanks should be used based on study and practical experience and then pushed for the implementation of these ideas.
Those writers who pretend that Guderian overstated his role in the creation of the german armored force , are completely wrong.
Guderian wrote his memoIrs, not a history of the creation of the german armored force. It is the story of his career.
It is Guderians contemporaries who called him the creator of the german armored force, not Guderian. Shows that the man made a serious impression on his contemporaries which is not surprising given Guderians passion.

In fact, the officer was Oberst Botho Henning Elster (1894-1952), at that time, commander of the PR 8 belonging to the 10. Pz.
