Gentlemen,
Does anyone on this erudite forum know whether or not the Sd.Kfz 7/1 was used by Heer or Luftwaffe in North Africa? If so, when was this piece of equipment in use?
Sincerely,
Politruk
Use of Sd.Kfz 7/1 in Nortn Africa

Yes, I am indeed interested in the AA version of the Sd. Kfz. 7 and whether or not it was used in North Africa. I haven't seen any pictures either, but with the Desert Air Force becoming mored and more of a problem, a mobile quadruple light Flak might have been handy, On the other hand, the DAK wasn't the most prioritised unit in the German Armed Forces.

I have looked through about dozen books about the African campaign, Flak-guns and halftracks and to my amazement I found not a single picture of the SdKfz 7/1 in North Africa. Although I can't find proof it does seem unlikely that this vehicle never served in Lybia or at least Tunisia when the allied airsuperiority was virtually total. Interesting question and I'll certainly keep on looking for an answer and let you know if I ever find something wothwhile
