Surrendering SS Offizier

This is a fairly well-known photo, usually attributed to 17.SS-G.v.B. However, while researching Breakout at Normandy: The 2nd Armored Division in the Land of the Dead, Mark Bando and a French researcher were able to determine that this officer actually belonged to 2.SS-D.R. There is another photo that shows him standing with a group of prisoners in what was identifiable as Notre Dame de Chenilly (I believe... the book and my maps are at home). They think they even know who butt-stroked him in the head!

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone might have an idea as to the identity of this officer? They know the MP lieutenant, I think it would be interesting to learn the prisoner's name as well.

it seems that this officer must be the Untersturmführer Peters of G.v.B.

You have an other picture of this Untersturmführer on the picture here below (the man on the second row)
