Maj. Erich Leie died in 7 March in 1945 next to Drogomyśl.

Few day ago Polish group discovered place of the fall airpplane.

During this links you can see mining engine Daimler Benz DB 605 from his Bf 109 G-14/AS

Done this Exploration Group Museum 4 Podhale Rifles Regiment in Cieszyn , working under the direction Krzysztof Neścior , in agreement Delegacy Regional Office for the Protection of Monuments in Bielsko Biała.

Not a wreck recovery fan, but I did enjoy the movie. When Leie's plane hit the ground, his engine block must have had a mind of its own and kept right on going headed for China! It was really, really buried DEEP! I'm guessing 4 meters?
