Oflags for non-British POWs

General WWII era German military discussion that doesn't fit someplace more specific.

Oflags for non-British POWs

Post by Peter »

I am researching the two Oflags that held British POWs, Oflag IX A/H and A/Z, but have come across occasional references to Oflag IX B and Oflag IX C, can anyone point me at a good source of information regarding the German POW system for non British and American prisoners? I am particular keen to learn about other camps in District IX beyond the three British Stalags and the two Oflags. Both the two Oflags held non-British POWs early in the war or at times mixed with the British.

Thanks in advance

Is this any use?

Deals mainly with French Colonial troops who were held in Frontstammlager.

Yes that is. Thank you. Perhaps the best list of camps that I have come across is - Mattiello, G and Vogt W, 'Deutsche Kriegsgefangenen– und Internierten enrichtungen 1939–1945', Vogt, Koblenz.

That appears to be the standard reference material for this sort of thing as far as I can see.
