Waffen SS Leibstandarte help identify...
Hi, A bit out of my area here, ok its Leibstandarte but whats the relevance of the number, looks like a '2'(?) and the laurel/branch (?)on the insignia, Any suggestions as to a date or theatre? Jim.

SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 2, 18.Aufklärungs-Kompanie.
The laurel wreath was standard LAH insignia 1943-45.
Date? Only a guess, late in the war - Ardennes - as part of XXXIX Korps, 5. Pz. Armee.

I don't think this photo was taken in the Ardennes as all the pictures taken during this period show that the LSSAH's SPW were painted in white. Moreover, when LSSAH was part of the 5.Panzerarmee, the weather had turned into an intense cold and the men had to wear the warmest possible clothes. Finally, the 18.(Aufkl.)Kp./SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt.2 was no longer in existence by December 1944.
