GREAT info! Thank you very much!
Hilpolstein is just near Roth, so the Hungarian assumption becomes very probable!

Re: Uniform info request
I have been researching a bit more on ,,Hunyadi" and I have the following information that might interest you all. I have found a part of an interview with a member of ,,Hunyadi" that gives a run down on the uniform that he was given in late December 1944/early January 1945.
1 cap - German
2 Tunic - Belgium Officers tunic (!!??!!)
3 Trousers - German
4 Belt - Yugoslavian
5 Underware - German
6 Boots - High Finnish Boots
7 Overcoat / Greatcoat - French Policemans summer coat
This list might explain why the Germans on meeting the retreating Alarm Battalion didnt not know whether to shoot them, take them prisoner or use them in other kampfgruppe's
I have read that the 1st Hungarian Sturmjaeger Regiment (the ski battalions from 25.,,Hunyadi" and 26.,,Hungaria") were issued with captured french uniforms.
One source says that the Hungarian SS Department set up a workshop in Roth where they sprayed the Hungarian helmet shields on.
