could anyone help me by giving me any information about G.E.U.A.B. 397.
a relative of mine served with them and was captured in italy in april 1945 and held at POW camp 368.

The "problem" here is that this is a training and replacement unit - Grenadier-Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 397. Your relative did his basic training within this unit and was then transferred to one of the many units for which the battalion "delivered" replacements. None of the mainly supplied units served in Italy. So it is not possible to tell in which unit he served in with this information.

this is the information i got on a army form w.3000.It states the particulars on Identity disc as
3561/ st. kp. G.E.U.A.B 397
362 division.
