I found in the book Battleground Europe "Das Reich" by Philip Vickers a map:
June 44: 11.Pz Div south of Bergerac, between Duras and (west of) Castillones.

Recently, french historians have published several books on the battle of Montélimar. One of them is specifically based on the 11th Panzer;it's the notes of the radioman of the Panther 102.Go on Google and simply search "Bataille de Montélimar".
Re: More about the 11th Panzer Division, please...
Are any of the books in English ? I have always been interested in that battle.

Re: More about the 11th Panzer Division, please...
Can anyone give me anything more about Oberst Friedrich von Halke? This is the first I heard about his being a (assumed mFb) commander. Can someone tell me the source for his commanding the division? Was he commanding the new formation in France while Gen. von Wietersheim was still with the division remnant in Russia? Or was Oberst Hake commanding the remnant while Gen. von Wietersheim was on leave?
Best regards,

The link no longer works. Armor Magazine has moved from Ft Knox to Ft Benning.tigre wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2009 5:22 pm Hello guys ; for those who did not stumbled already with it................

The new link for this issue is:
http://www.benning.army.mil/armor/eARMO ... 994web.pdf
As of this writing, the link is not working, but I was able to successfully access it via Google cache.
The relevant article is 11th Panzers in the Defense 1944.
Edit: Actually, I was able to get a better copy out of the Internet Archive "Wayback Machine". Google cache gives a poorly rendered text reading, but Archive.org gives the actual PDF document.

Re: 11.Pz.Div.
Regarding this portion of the 11Pz status prior to the Ardennes Offensive, does anyone know whether the unit was brought up to strength before being committed to combat in the Ardennes?David Constable wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2004 3:22 am December 1944 [16th]

???
Reinforced.
What do you suppose the annotations "???" and "Reinforced" indicate?
Also, I see the unit history indicates it fought in the Ardennes, but I can't find anything about what they did, or when and where.
Thanks
John
