Unknown fieldpostnumber for three norwegian volunteers

Post by Regiment Norge »

Hi!

Three norwegian brothers were MIA/KIA on the eastern front, but their units are a little difficult to find out. All I have is their fieldpostnumber and they all was MIA/KIA in 1945.

Which units is behind these numbers:

- 02836 E = From february 1945
- 24520 D = From a hospital in March 1945, same person also had;
- 34520 D
- 59223 B = From february 1945

All were attached to Wehrmach units NOT SS.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks !

What is your suggestion about the first fieldpostnumber concerning the BRANDENBURG division - what company did he serve in 02836 E. The letter "E" should indicate the 8 company, but you wrote that this company had a total different number (15727). So what exactely is his company status?

That I don't know nor find right now.

But I can try to ask a friend of mine about that feldpost number..

BUT i found this;
Regiment 3 Brandenburg which was in separate combat in Italy was released from the division and it was used to build MG-Bataillon Generalfeldmarschall Kesselring there in Nov 1944.
It was ordered also that those soldiers trained and experienced in so-called “Sonderkampf” [commando style action ; but also anti-partisan warfare with “Kampfdolmetscher”] – in a strength of 900 Offz., Uffz, and Mannschaften – should be transferred to the W-SS [-> SS-Jagdverbände].
Order of battle (Aug 1944)
Regiment 3 Brandenburg , Düren
I. Bataillon
1. – 3. Kp
II. Bataillon
5. – 7. Kp
III. Bataillon
9. – 11. Kp
13.(Leg.-)Kp

Thanks Kahl!

Hope your friend can solve the fieldpostnumber question....... I was surprised to find a norwegian volunteer in this unit. From before there were at least three norwegians, who were as agents in the Abwehr, who attacked the russian consulate at Rovaniemi in Finland on the night to 21.6.41 and captured the russian codebook. Therefore the german Ic was able to dechiffer the russian codes during ww2. The CIA used it later as the VENONA project up to the 1960s
