Greetings,
My dad was in the Luftwaffe. He said he was captured and sent to a POW camp that he pronounced " OIL LEAN ".
Does anyone know of a POW camp with a name like that?
Is there a way I can search Luftwaffe records for my Dad?
Thanks,

Hello Roland,
Do you know what country the camp was in?

Hi,
I asked my Dad many times, the only thing he said was that he was in the Luftwaffe, and that shortly afterward, he was a POW in " Oileen ". He never mentioned what country, etc.
I know I am not giving much information, but it is all I have.
Thanks,
Roland

Re: Prisoner of War Camp
My first thought was "Orleans". The way it is pronounced by people around New Orleans may well have sounded, to an outsider, like OILEEN.

As a relative you could try approaching the Deutsches Dienstelle (WaSt):RolandG wrote:Greetings,

They will have records of your Fathers war service and life as a POW.
