Italian JU87s

Post by Rodger Herbst »

I came across an article that said the Italians were making the JU 87 under license, can this be true, if so what engine did they use? They were flown by Italian pilots so the article said, anybody know?

Hello, it's my first time in this forum
Concerning the topic in subject: no, Ju87s were not manufactured by Italian industry.
Italian Air Force (Regia Aeronautica) bought from Germans 164-171 Ju87, all of them Ju87B/R except for 54-61 Ju87D.
These planes were used from September 1940 to august 1943, on Greece, Balkans, North Africa, Malta, against allied shipping and, at the end, in Sicily, during the allied invasion of summer 1943.
Few Ju87D, after the surrender of Italy on Sept., 8th, 1943 were used by the Italian Air Force fighting along with Allies against Germans, in some dive bombing actions in Balkans. these were the last actions of Italian Ju87
