90 years ago Rittmeister Manfed von Richtofen scored his 79th and 80th victories. The victories were scored against Camels of the 3rd Squadron RAF .
His 79th victory was Major Richard Raymond -Barker MC. According to MvR's combat reports, Three Minutes later, he scored his 80th( and final ) victory , 2LT David Lewis.Lewis came down only about 50 yards from Raymond-Barker.
Raymond -Barker died in the attack, but Lewis survived and lived another 60 years

And 90 years ago today Rittmeister Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen died, most probably as a result of machine gun fire from Australian ground troops near the Somme river.
