This is a really nice display example of the famous German Stick Grenade, the Stielhandgranate 24. The canister is completely intact, with no holes, some very light pitting and 95%+ of its original green paint finish and is completely empty- it contains no dangerous materials. The threaded collar for connecting it to the stick is clean and functional. The threaded section in the center of the top of the stick has been damaged such that a detonator will no longer ever fit securely, further making this piece no longer ever usable as a weapon. The metal stick top cap has some minor bubbling but retains about 80% of its paint. The wooden stick is solidly set in place, and is in excellent condition, not dry or damaged, with only a bit of darkening toward the base. It’s stamped 43 bab. The endcap is clean and functional, and the porcelain pull ring is present, although the dampening spring and pad are not.
