Hello I'm just looking for information on ship Sinfra that I know that has been sunk by British aircraft on October 19th, 1943, during the
Allied operations against the Island of Kos
Has anyone more information and some photo of this ship?
Thanks
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
There is an Italian book on the subject:
"L'affondamento della Nave Sinfra" by Dona di San Mauro.
I expect it contains photos.
Sinfra (4,470t) was an ex-French ship used by the Germans to transport mostly Italian POWs. She was caught by British and American aircraft north of Crete and sunk on 19 October 1943. (Interestingly, her loss is not recorded in the otherwise exhaustive "Handelsschiffe Verluste" website of German merchant losses).
2,098 men died aboard her, out of 2,664 carried. According to one list, it was the 16th worst maritime disaster of all time.
Cheers,
Sid.
