lebedo,

From unit Meldung I found the following:

Pannzer-Brigade 106

SdKfz 251/8 on 30 Dec1944=2 operational and 0 in maintenance
SdKfz 251/16 on 30 Dec1944=5 operational and 1 in maintenance
SdKfz 251/21 on 30 Dec1944=27 operational and 13 in maintenance
SdKfz 251/all other types on 30 Dec1944=38 operational and 8 in maintenance

Bergepanzer V on 15 January 1945 = 0 operational and 0 in maintenance and 1 in transit
Möbelwagen on 15 January 1945 = 2 operational and 1 in maintenance and 0 in transit
Panzer IV on 15 January 1945 = 2 operational and 0 in maintenance and 0 in transit
Panzer V on 15 January 1945 = 5 operational and 3 in maintenance and 0 in transit

The Meldungs for s Panzerjäger-Abteilung 654 showed

SdKfz 251/7 on 30 December 1944 = 3 operational and 0 in maintenance and 0 in transit
SdKfz 251/8 on 30 December 1944 = 1 operational and 0 in maintenance and 0 in transit
Jagdpanther on 30 December 1944 = 28 operational and 7 in maintenance and 10 in transit

Bergepanzer V on 15 January 1945 = 2 operational and 1 in maintenance and 1 in transit
Möbelwagen on 15 January 1945 = 4 operational and 0 in maintenance and 0 in transit
Wirbelwind on 15 January 1945 = 4 operational and 0 in maintenance and 0 in transit

Then from the book The Combat History of s PJA 654 by Karlheinz Münch there was the following for the Jagdpanthers:

1 January 1945 = 29 operational, 6 in maintenance and 9 in transit
6 January 1945 = 35 operational, 9 in maintenance and 0 in transit
10 January 1945 = 32 operational, 11 in maintenance and 0 in transit
18 January 1945 = 34 operational, 9 in maintenance and 0 in transit
25 January 1945 = 20 operational, 17 in maintenance and 10 in transit

Then from Jeff Dugdale's work I found the following. It is in December but it gives you a feel for Panzer-Brigade 106

On 8 December 1944 the following:
58 officers
451 NCOs
1561 enlisted men
6 officials
2076 total manpower

2 Panzer IVs
10 Panzer Vs
4 Jagdpanzer IVs
4 Möbelwagens
2 Bergepanzer Vs
90 SdKfz 251s all types
6 Kettenkrads
3 motorcycles with sidecar
19 motorcycles
54 field cars
45 cross country field cars
100 trucks
71 cross country trucks
16 Maultiers
11 8 to 18 ton prime movers

He also notes that in the fighting in December the brigade lost 2 Panzer Vs and over 150 men but by early January they could mmuster 2200 men.

The brigade was structured on 8 December 1944 as follows:

Panzer-Abteilung 2106
Panzergrenadier-Batallion 2106
Panzer-Pionier-Kompanie 2106

Hope this data helps.

Hello,
I have F. Bruhns' history of PzBde 106. I'm somewhat busy right now, but if you send me a message next Friday I'll check over the weekend to see if there's anything to add to the information Ron has very generously (as always) posted.
best regards

Hello,
I checked the PBde 106 history. Although there is some detail of the actions, there's nothing to add to what Ron posted regarding strength and organisation. Sorry.

Actually I must apologise. Coming late into this thread, I had not noticed the original question was for January '45 and I only checked for November '44! The book contains a brigade report for 8.1.45:

Personel and Weapons:
Stab u. Stabs-Kp:10 Off, 39 NCO, 144 ORs, 23 leMG, 4 leMG (Bord), 2 2cm Flak (Bord)
Panzer-Abt : 18 Off, 163 NCO, 456 ORs, 3 Vierlingsflak (Sf), 4 3,7cm Flak (Bord), 2 PzIV, 12 PzV, 3 2cm Drilling
Panzergren-Btl: 25 Off, 234 NCO, 766 ORs, 51 leMG, 9 leMG (Bord), 12 mGrW, 8 sGrW, 28 Sdkfz 251/21
Panzer-Pio-Kp: 3 Off, 27 NCO, 147 ORs, 26 leMG, 10 leMG (Bord)
Gr.Kw.Kol: 1 Off, 8 NCO, 43 ORs, 6 leMG
Werkstatt: 3 Off, 23 NCO, 103 ORs, 3 leMG

"Soft" Vehicles:
Stab u. Stabs-Kp; Pkw(o):6/2/1, Pkw(gl):11/2/0,Lkw(o):1/5/1,Lkw(gl):0/6/0,1 Maultier, 1 Ambulance, Sdkfz 7
Panzer-Abt ; Pkw(o):10/5/0,Pkw(gl):12/4/0,Lkw(o):1/4/29,Lkw(gl):0/12/1,7 Maultier, 3 Ambulances, 3 Sdkfz 7
Panzergren-Btl; Pkw(o):26/0/0,Pkw(gl):12/5/0,Lkw(o):0/25/3,Lkw(gl):0/25/0,5 Maultier, 2 Ambulances, 5 Sdkfz 7
Panzer-Pio-Kp; Pkw(o):4/3/0,Pkw(gl):4/0/0,Lkw(o):0/7/1,Lkw(gl):0/7/0,1 Maultier, 1 Sdkfz 7
Gr.Kw.Kol; Pkw(o):2/0/0,Lkw(o):0/10/2,Lkw(gl):0/6/0,1 Maultier
Werkstatt; Pkw(o):4/0/0,Pkw(gl):1/0/0,Lkw(o):0/4/12,Lkw(gl):0/3/0,1 Sdkfz 9/1, 2 Sdkfz 9

The numbers for cars (Pkw) and trucks (Lkw) are given in the form lighht/medium/heavy.

Hope this helped.
