Regarding the rhesus factor, I just can't imagine an SS doctor going in to explain to Heinrich Himmler that his Aryan supermen share a blood factor with a snotty-nosed African monkey.

I mean, I've done some career-limiting things in the past, but really...better to just forget all about it, don't you think?

Bloodgroup tattoo

Post by Milan Lorman »

I may as well add my name to the list of "rare" AB fellows. I still have my tattoo on the underside of my left arm. We were tested for bloodgroup and immediately tattooed on the morning after our arrival by train from Slovakia in the Dresden recruit training barracks . This was done even before we received our uniforms.

In the Russian captivity the AB tattoo has caused me not the slightest problem, but after the Russians released me the french gendarms in Berlin ordered me to roll up my sleeve and rather unceremoniously locked me up in a solitary cell for sixteen months. They called it "Untersuchungshaft" and eventually I was released never having been charged with anything.

I'll be damned if I remove that Tattoo after having paid such high price for that mark of ditinction.

Thank you for the "thumbs-up". I will be 83 next April - if I survive 'till then. After the initial training from March till the end of August '43 in Dresden and training area of Beneshau, I was posted to the SS-Polizei Division. We have then spent one year in Greece and from there we were sent to the area of Siebenburgen. Three months later I was wounded in Hungary. After recovering in a hospital in Vienna I was sent once again to Dresden.

When the Red Army broke through near PosenI went with a hastily formed Kampfgruppe Frenken to help seal that breach. About two weeks later in mid-February that unit was included in a new SS-Grenadier Division "30.Januar".

We did our best to slow down the russian advance but two days after the final push for Berlin began I was captured on the Oder-Spree kanal as one of only seventeen survivors of our original "Kampfgruppe Frenken".

Blutgruppe

Post by haen2 »

What is there to see. It's a capital letter scratched rather roughly into the skin, en smeared with black ink material. this goes into the scratch, and becomes the "tattoo".
So, in order to visualize it, take a piece of paper, make a scribble that looks like a capital A, O, or so, about one centimeter big.
There ! now you have it.

Mine was removed by my family doctor, after the war, after I was released from my last camp.

Also, I don't think that being computer literate is such a big deal at our age.

Milan, I did not realize you were "one of the bad guys too" :D
There are not many left over, and it's getting lonseome in the ranks.

Oh well.

Well, what I do not understand is what one means by underneath the left arm. Does this mean on the top of the tricep, or one interior side of the bicep. Also, I have read that the tattoo in the beginning was done in Fraktur script. I ask because I am strongly considiering getting one--to signify incognito my affinity with Nationalist Socialist ideology as I must nonetheless remain in obscurity. If one knows where to look though, they will see what I really stand for.

Haen, I am surprised that you are surprised. My webpage tells all about my service as W-SS Pionier. If you didn't have time before, read it now. You should find it interesting. URL: http://www.milanlorman.bigpondhosting.com

A bloodgroup tattoo won't signal an affinity with NS ideology. Many Waffen-SS soldiers were quite apolitical and more than a few were anti-Nazi and certainly against the "golden pheasants" and their rotten leadership. You be better off tattooing some sort of runic emblem on, say, your inner lower lip or, even more discreet, between the cheeks of your arse.

I'm AB Pos too. We used to write it above the pockets of our jumpsmocks at one time, and then on our helmet covers when the Kevlar lid came in. Futile, really.

Paddy,

Thaks for an awesome, intelligent reply. We used to write it on our helmet webbing too, but like you say, bit pointless all in all. I'm also AB Pos, but put little faith in the ink on my helmet replacing 5 pints in quick smart time.

Eimsamer, why dont you tattoo it on your f*cking forehead, and while you are at it, get the f*ck away from this site. We have no room for Nazi worship here, nor for Neo f*ckheads that identify their messed up little heads with a messed up f*cking idealogy. Jog the f*ck on, little man.

All, sorry for my language, but Ive been out with Stella tonight, and Im no mood for pathetic little fan boys.

Also, Im back from France, but am in London now. Good to be back. And hello to all that knows me.

Cheers,
Jock

A bit harsh, wouldn't you say? I haven't seen Einsamer attack anyone on this site. He abides by the rules, unlike the PC vanguard protectors against eee-vil nazis. And this is most likely a put on anyway.

Hi all,

Phylo, thanks for the WB, hope you are well.

Erik, a touch harsh mabye, but I have said time and time again that we must be extra careful not to come across as sympathetic to the NS regime, or seem in any way disrespectful or uncaring of its victims. Why? Because in some peoples eyes, we are already under suspicion just for having an interest in the Wehrmacht.

Wrong, I know, but thats the way it is. And we must be careful, so as to prove them completely wrong, and unfound their suspicions. IMO, making a statement that you are thinking of getting a blood group tattoo in the midst of a legitimate discussion about the tattoo flies not only in the face of what I just said, but of common sense and decency also.

Cheers,
Jock

Now, which people would they be? Searchlight zealots? Redgrave's WRP Bolshies?
