As my knowledge of German is practically non existant i would like someone to enlighten me on the meaning of the word dienstalle as i come across it a lot when looking at original source material

Hello

Could you look again because Dienstalle is no correct german word. Maybe it is "Dienststelle" which would mean office, authority.

yes christophe that was the word i was after

so does it mean office in the beaurocratic sense, ie part of a the civil or military administration?

Dienststelle-Duty station, command headquarters, administrative center or office.

dienststellung-appointment.
