Whos trenchcoat was this?

i also would say that this coat is a german one. The producer could had been found in Waldbrödl (Rheinland). I have to say i have no exactly idea about the shoulder boards, but im quite sure that they are for a special kind of "soldiers". The shoulder boards also look too new in my opinion compared to the quality of the trench coat.
Concerning the color of the lacing i would say that the owner had been a medic, as far as i know the color of the Wasserschutzpolizei had been some kind of a sand color.
And yes, you can recognize the rank of a soldier by the shoulder boards. Thats actually the main function of shoulder boards.

Maybe you could post some more pics from your trench coat? (total view etc.)

To me the coat looks like a civilian one.
For comparison, here is a leather coat of a General of the Heer:

I would say that the shoulder boards are reproductions (of whatever, as i said before, i never saw such ones) and were later put on the coat. They look too new to me.


So i would say that this isnt a military coat, "just" a leather coat from maybe that time.
