Recommended World War II website

Post by Potsdamerplatz »

I would like you all to know about this website which is run by a man called George Duncan and is devoted completely to World War II:

http://members.iinet.net.au/~gduncan/index.html

Topics include:

* LITTLE KNOWN HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT WORLD WAR II

* MARITIME DISASTERS OF WORLD WAR II

* MASSACRES AND ATROCITIES COMMITTED DURING WORLD WAR II

* WOMEN OF THE THIRD REICH - BIOGRAPHIES OF LEADING FEMALE NAZIS AND ALSO WOMEN PERSECUTED BY THE REGIME

* A COMPLETE LIST WITH FULL DETAILS OF ALL KNOWN ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS AGAINST HITLER

It is packed with interesting information and obviously well researched.

Here is another very impressive website I forgot to mention - the World War II database:

http://www.worldwar2database.com/html/frame1.htm#none

A complete history of every aspect of World War II. One of the highlights is a virtual radio where you can listen to recordings of actual news bulletins as they were reported at the time.

There are also 100 video clips of archive news footage. The picture quality is not great but still worth a look.

You can click on a specific war year and a sub-menu will show all the major battles and events that took place which you can then access individually.

Over 2,000 photographs are also available.

Highly recommended and completely free to use.
