Joke about Swedish conversion......

Post by Helmut Von Moltke »

hi kameraden, heh heh I feel like making a funny joke, fiction. Towards the end of the war, when the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS were short on uniforms, a German guy working at the German embassy in Stockholm in Sweden notices that the Swedish soldiers wear field gray uniforms similar to German ones. So, the embassy guy goes to a shop and buys some Swedish uniforms without Swedish insignia, then flies them to the Reich in a Junkers plane, and when it arrives in the Reich the Wehrmacht/Waffen SS quartermaster just adds on German insignia onto the Swedish tunic.. and wa la! ready for combat! :D lol

cheers, :D

Helmut,
Actually that joke was not too far fetched.
Sweden had a brisk commerce going with Germany, From ballbearings (made in the USA), to Zimmer Bofors anti Aircraft guns, to what have you.
Since the uniforms did indeed look alike to an extent, that "joke' could even have been true.
Hail and salutations !
