Hi Nimitz,
I may be wrong about the Altmark being a sister ship of the Dithmarschens. In any event, try this link:
http://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/ ... index.html
There does exist a famous photo of Altmark in a Norwegian fjord being boarded from a British destroyer. However, it is agood few years since I last noticed it.
Cheers,
Sid.

Hi Nimitz,
It transpires that Altmark was renamed Uckermark and WAS a member of the Dithmarschen class. You will therefore find details of her at the above link.
Also, for you photos, try:

Hi Nimitz,
If you look further on the net there is a very substantial history of the Dithmarschens. They were designed to refuel and resupply German surface raiders, which is why they were built as a class. There were to have been nine of them, three per pocket battleship. I think only five or six were completed. They employed very advanced sea transfer facilities of a standard only the US navy later developed for the Pacific War. The British, having naval bases all over the world, were far behind in this speciality.
Cheers,
Sid.
