This may seem a little stupid, but are you sure, dude? Look at where they're operating on the fellow. Also, note the lack of blood all over the place. If you are not absolutely certain that these are pictures of an operation on a combat wound, maybe the man being operated on is undergoing "sterilisation"? I saw some footage of it in a documentary one time. Anyway, those are my thoughts, and I could be wrong. I'd like to hear what you think about it.6 Photos, Surgery behind the Front, Russia, undated.

Thank you for an intelligent rebuttal, solietjake. My knowledge of medicine isn't that great, but now that I think about it, cleaning up a wound before closing it would make sense.not all of those battlewounds were all bloody, for all we know, this could be a follow up surgery from a battlewound, or they had finally cleaned him up and just closing up his stomach
