My motorcycles history?

Post by CrazyCatman »

Well, I am wondering if it is possible to find my motorcycles history?
I am the owner of a 1940 Ardie VF125 frame with intact frame number - but I have no actual history on it; No licenseplates and other.

I was wondering if there is a place where I can find some history for it? "Who" used it, for how long has it been used, where has it been used, documentation etc...

My theori is that it is a Gestapo bike - maybe used for escorte driving. The bike may later have been taken by the Danish resistance and repainted red and white (brush-painted).

The bike is right now red and white - but under the type plate with frame-no (match the frame no in the bike), model, year, etc, there is a mlitarygreen colour (Feldgrau?).

Is there anyone who can confirm that Ardie VF125 has been used in Denmark due to German military service (I've seen one more apart from mine) - or is there anyone who know where I can search out the frame-no to find the license-plate - and/or other history of the Zwerirädder?

Have you tried posting a request in some classic motorcycle magazines?

I know the Wehrmacht used them, but as the firm no longer exists I've no idea how you would begin to trace any records, if they survive. It's possible for English wartime bikes to be researche using their frame numbers, as you can find out the WD contract, not so easy for your Ardie.

Hope you get it back on the road!!

Kind Regards,
Simon.
