Kraftfahr battalion 9

Post by captnenglish »

A number of years ago, I was given two (not a pair) German shoulder straps, which were brought back from the First World War by a US veteran. One of the two was from the above unit (unpiped, feldgrau, red "K" above red "9". I have tried in vaind to find any information on this unit; can anyone point me in the right direction (preferably on-line)? I am sure there isn't much as it was a transportation unit, I am still curious.

Does you example look like this one? The one above is from a Prussian unit incorporated into German Empire after 1866.

No crown on mine (just the "K" above the "9"), but otherwise yes. I have to look but II think the "k" is a dfferent type of script also.
