Hello to all

; something more...........................
The 61st Infantry Regiment in the Sudetenland (Infanterie Regiment 61 im Sudetenland). That unforgettable moment.
On the memorable night of September 29-30, the long-awaited order to march also arrived. At 0:28 a decision of the four great powers was signed in Munich. On the morning of this memorable day, the first companies of the regiment headed for the border. In March of this year, the former German East Mark (Austria - Ostmark) was returned to the Reich without a shot. The regiment was there. But now the German land was to be returned to the motherland and the Greater German Reich would be complete. And the regiment should be there again and should be the first to cross the border.
In the Freyung area, the regiment occupied other quarters before entering the departure areas at the border. Shortly before, my 8th (Machine Gun) Company was greeted by the Commander-in-Chief of our Army Group, Colonel General Ritter von Leeb, who greeted the soldiers by shouting "Heil" and praised their direct view, animated response, and good condition of the horses. During the farewell, the Colonel General asserted that the army could be proud to hold a shield of peace over all Germans.
In the evening of the same day, when the sky turned grey, the regiment marched to the staging areas in Schnellenzipf and Landstraβen (now the disappeared village of Dolní Silnice) in Kleinphilippsreut - Kunžvart (now Strážný) in compliance with all security measures. war.
A light rain was falling, the dark roads reflected dim lights around the moving vehicles. The night seemed unusually dark, darker than here. Deep woods and villages lay silent as a gray column passed over them into the hills, advancing towards the Kleinphilippsreut Basin. The picture is like in the west in 1918, when a regiment marched through the Argonne Forest to the front for action, except there was no rumble from the front, no bright bullets in the night sky, but also soldiers marching more freely . The weight of the difficult hours and days ahead did not rest on them, but their breasts felt a joyful anticipation. What about the fact that it was constantly raining and the soldier was completely drenched? No one cared about these little things and inconveniences.
At Kleinphilippsreut the marching column split. The I. Battalion proceeded to the Schnellenzipf position and the 6. Company with a heavy machine gun platoon of the 8. Company to the customs Landstraβen as security. Behind them in the woods near Schwarzenthal the II.Battalion sought accommodation. In quickly pitched tents, a weary troop lay down to rest until they died. But behind this guard, personnel worked, anti-aircraft guns and batteries arrived, motorcyclists raced through the dark of night, and tanks and armored reconnaissance vehicles thundered forward. Liaison units built the line.
Before it finally dawned after this cold and wet night, which gave the young soldiers only a vague idea of war, the unit emerged from their tents to collect themselves in the field kitchens with hot tea and spent a few hours in the middle of the forest camp. Engineers were already building an emergency bridge at Schnellenzipf for the next crossing.
