The designation of "TN-Abt" was changed to "TechnAbt" in 1941/42. During the fall of 1942 a "General der Technischen Truppen" was appointed. Until 1942 the basic training and further development of these troops was carried out by the Pioniere. In 1941 a formal school was established for Technische Truppen.
From the Technischen Wehrwirtschatfskomandos were formed in 1941:

Techn.Btl. 5 New
Techn.Btl. 6 from W Wi Kdo 6
Techn.Btl. 7 New

Few as been written properly on these units (most on Teno itself).
I red that Erich Hampe wrote an article "Die Technischen Truppen der Heeres 1939 1945" in a german mag from 1953 but not yet found.

The publication you are referring to is Die Unbekannte Armee. Die technischen Truppen im Zweiten Weltkrieg, Hampe, Erich/Bradley, Dermot, ISBN 3-7648-1175-7.
