Hello together!
Who can help me?I can`t speak and write English very good. But I`m searching for Informations about Divisions-Füsilier-Bataillon ( Aufklärungs-Abteilung) 171. My Father was in these Unit. He was in Mai 1945 in Kärnten,Austria in an Hospital. The Number from the Hospital was 1434. I have an original "Medical certificate" from July 20 1945 with an Offical impressed seal " P.W.CAMP OFFICAL U.S.ARMY MACK G. GRUNDY 2nd.Lt.Inf. Where was these Hospital? The Div.-Füs.-Bat. was "unterstellt" by the 71.Infanterie-Division. These Unit was ( Lt. WAst.-Berlin) in Dez.`44 in Triest,Northern-Italy, Jan.-April `45 in Hungary and Mai `45 in Kärnten,Austria. Who can help me with more Informations.
Please, excuse me for my Language Viele Grüsse Joachim

Hello Joachim!

Apart from some very basic information about the 71. Infanterie-Division on the Internet you also have following book which probably goes into far greater details about this Division(it's in german and it's cheap!)...

Viele Gruesse! Austria. Be glad he was captured by an American Division instead of the Russians.

Anyway i've got a book listing the 300 German Divisions and their attatched units so I'll find out what I can.
