Panzer division uniform.

Post by Leving »

It is my understanding that Panzer divisions consited of both Armour and infantry. The two forces working together - hense blitzkreig.

Presummably, the infantry were, panzergrenadiers, or perhaps another type of Heavy infantry.

In the below picture, there is a German officers visor (Peaked Cap) shown. The cap would have been worn by an officer in an armoured division, however, I'm unsure whether it would have been used by and Infantry commander, tank commander, or maybe even both.

In other words, would it have been used by a panzergrenadier, a tank crew officer, or both?

The hat with the appropriate branch color piping (waffenfarbe) would be worn by all officers as part of the service uniform. The Model 1934 Officers Field cap was similar in design, but made differently, also had branch piping and was worn frequently in the field until the end of the war, even though officially replaced by both the M1938 and M1943 Officer Field Caps.
