Identifying uniform decorations

Post by Johann Groebner »

Hi , I'm trying to track down some info on my Grandfather. From the photo below, he seems to be wearing an iron cross ribbon , and his collar designates him as an NCO(?) He served mainly in Norway in the occupation and I cannot find any other info on him . I remember that he was in charge of a store house and told me stories of cross country skiing on patrol. He was born in Austria so I imagine he was with the Mountain troops stationed there. Can anyone help me in identifying the photo? or in pointing me to a recipient list ? or the correct German govt. agency

Thanks Johann Groebner. His name was (Fritz) Friedrich Baum

The ribbon is for the Kriegs verdienst medal, War Merit Medal not the Iron Cross.
