Heer or Luftwaffe Splittertarn What Weapon ??

What is the weapon the Soldat in the foreground has across his back?

is the smock standard heer camo or Luftwaffe pattern?

Any other observations on this photo?

Heer Splinter.I think is a SVT-40 Tokarev.

yeah that seems right.
only thing to go on with the rifle tho is the strap and sight

What makes me a bit uncertain is the camo he is wearing but my guess its a Heer unit from 1944-45 somewhere in Russia, perhaps a panzer division due to the halftrack/armored veichle they seem to be sitting on. It could even be the HG-division but its hard to tell since you cant spot any insignia. The soldier seems to have as you say a SVT-40 on his back which was viewed as a very good weapon and was much much better then the k-41/43 issued to the german soldier.

It is perhaps a casualy collection point since a wounded man or dead man is laying in the background and the guy to the right look very sad.

Looks like a Splinter A snipers smock - Tokarev SVT40's were often used as sniper rifles by the Whermacht, the man far left seems to have a jaw wound, whilst the sad man on the right has a shrapnel injury to the cheek, I would agree its probably a casualty evac situation, the mix of Jackboots and ankleboots n'gaiters suggests the SVT armed soldat with a pistol holster too is probably an NCO, the guy on the left with the jaw wound looks to have heer subdued late war collar litzen without backing so probably an army unit.
