German uniform
I'm quite the novice...what information can anyone give me about his uniform, rank, likely date of photo....or anything else? (This is my cousin's grandfather Carl Fangerau and I would love to surprise her with any tidbits of information anyone could provide.) Thanks so much!

Re: German uniform
The collar patches are as worn by Wermachtbeamten personnel (Administration Officials). It's hard to tell what type of epauletts he's wearing, but taking into consideration the very elegant cut of his tunic and his splendid office I would venture a guess that he was Stabsofficiererang (Field officer equivalent - Major/Colonel)

Re: German uniform
I dont see anything to indicate that the litzen are Beamte. Also can't make out if there are HV devices on the boards.
Re: German uniform
For me it looks like he had a service anniversary or retired from service, as the many flowers
inside his office are very unusual and he is holding a piece that seems to be some kind
of service award. Can you provide us with a better scan of the Litzen maybe?

Re: German uniform
And his rank is that of Oberleutnant or maybe Hauptmann
Re: German uniform
He is holding something like a flying eagle award . Did he serve for the Luftwaffe ?
