Re: digital coloring
I'm with Franz! Great job, they don't look "re-done" at all!
I too would be curious as to how you decide what colors to change to.

Re: digital coloring
Hi again! and thanks for the kind compliments.
hmm.. I decide what colors to apply with "reverse color logic"?
Lets take for example.. German tri-color tank camouflage - dark yellow, dark green, red brown - when converted to grey tones would result in light grey, med grey and dark grey respectively. Thus when I work on tank pictures, i apply dark yellow on light grey patches and so on.
color scheme references (tamiya catalogue, books etc) help too.
My color interpretation is not 100% correct; under different lighting, angles, reflections etc, color hues/tones will twist and bend differently - ya know, even individual printers will have different result for the same file output. But if any one catches any mistakes (i.e. green logo should be red or grey uniform should be green etc), please do drop a note on my blog site and i will rectify when/if I can.
I see many great black & white pictures on this forum and I wonder would it be possible for me to convert some to colors? if that is ok?
cheers.

Re: digital coloring
I figured as much, I just thought I'd ask.
As long as you don't mess with anyone's original image, it shouldn't be a problem I don't think. If you display them, you might want to give credit for the original b/w image used.ha0 wrote:I see many great black & white pictures on this forum and I wonder would it be possible for me to convert some to colors? if that is ok?
Re: digital coloring
i noticed something, maybe i am wrong myself but it seems that the colored pic from the tiger had a yellow number on it,as i see b/w pictures they all seem te be white....just saying, not knowing
united we stand,divided we fall
Re: digital coloring
hey, thanks for input.
i thought so it was white, but when i checked the turret number has a darker tint than the dark yellow patches on the camouflage, i thought that it may not be white.
But still if someone can confirm on this, i would be very grateful. thanks again. :)

Thanks.
I have been coloring photos for just over two years.
Taught myself and gradually improved. All photos are part of
my personal collection.
First a photo of a cotton denim summer tunic in wear.

Thankyou very much.
It's a great hobby but it does take up a lot of my spare time.
Here's one more. This also from the Inf. Rgt. 154 album. An MG 34 team on alert in a forest near Leningrad.
