...in 100 meters distance from houses or fountains. A deep hole is sufficient. Take a spade to the latrine and throw bleaching powder on your stool, then cover with sand and soil. The company physician has advice for installing a latrine.
Pests. In the country there are fleas, lice, ticks, mosquitos, poison snakes and scorpions. Against creeping insects use insect powder. Mosquitos are vectors of malaria. Fight them by chasing themin the morning and in the evening at your living place. If lights are turned on at your place, keep windows shut if those are not protected by wire mesh against trespassing mosquitos. During sleep time use the mosquito net if having been delivered to you for your protection. Be aware that no mosquitos are in the inside when you place yourself beneath it. Keep care that it is stuck properly under your matress and no openings are left. Further be aware that your ellbows don't touch the net during sleep. If having lice, immediately report. Lice and ticks carry typhus, a very serious disease. The snakes of the country are very virulent and take cover digging in the sand. Therefore never go barefoot. Call the medic immediately if biten by a snake or scorpion. Until arrival the bite wound can be cut in cross form using a heat sterilized knife or a razor blade to drain the venom by rinsing with blood. Pour on the wound dark violet crystals of acidic potassium. Don't forget to shake out your shoes before redressing with them. They are preferred hideouts for scorpions.
Veneral diseases. Females offering themselves in public often have veneral disease. Only use brothels certified by the troop commander. Use a condom and don't loose time to sanitize yourself after intercourse.
Pets. Holding or bringing in dogs, cats, birds, monkeys or other pets is not allowed in troop's life. Nearly all of those animals carry pests and transmit serious disease to humans.
Vaccinations. Don't avoid vaccinations. Vaccination protects from disease. Unvaccinated men are a threat to themselves and their comrades.
Malaria. When the malaria pills have to be taken, don't be absent. You would expose yourself and your comrades to severe risk.
"RED DOG" That annoying skin affection is developing in steamy heat and connected to heavy sweating. Warm water and shampoo is the best protection.
In case of any disease report to the troop physician as soon as possible. Dilligently follow physician's advice.
