General WWII era German military discussion that doesn't fit someplace more specific.

Type of beer consumed in Whermacht

Post by Ingsoc75 »

Was there a cetain label of beer that Whermacht soldiers drank or was it a matter of whatever was available. I remember in Das Boot seeing bottles of Becks. Are there any other types that are around today?

Hi!

The different Wehrkreise had contracts with the local breweries. Some breweries also made beer in special transportation boxes and bottles which were sent to Kriegsmarine ships and so on.

I know for example that Wehrkreis Salzburg had contracts with STIEGL BIER, Salzburg and KALTENAUSEN, HALLEIN.
