B-Section operated in Gibraltar What was it ?

General WWII era German military discussion that doesn't fit someplace more specific.

B-Section operated in Gibraltar What was it ?

Post by Andre Chissel » Tue May 13, 2014 7:18 am

Dear all,

Here is part of an ULTRA decrypt from March 1943:

Reports from German agents from the fortress Algeciras and the B service, located across Gibraltar indicate the sailing of convoy MKS-9.

I assume that the German agents were from the Abwehr, but does anyone have any idea what the B Service were ????

Thanks

Andre

It is the B-Dienst (Beobachtungsdienst) - the Naval code breaking organisation. If you do a Google search for B-Dienst there is a fair bit of information available.
