Stille Nacht Silent Night

Post by German Born »

The battle was raging, men lying, dying trying to survive by any means when there was a halt in shooting
"The end of the war has come, finally we can go home"yelled out a soldier.
"What is that sound,it sounds like music, someone singing"he said.
This was Christmas eve Weihnachtaben on the front line.
The music grew louder and the soldiers went quieter so as to hear it,the most beautiful sound they had ever heard among the misery and despair.
As the song was being sung all hostilities ceased and there was a time, albeit only brief for the soldier to think of his family back home, his parents,Mutter und Vater, sister schwester and brother bruder,it was a time to remember the loved ones back home waiting and hoping for their safe return.

The men turned towards each other to find even the most seasoned veteran kameraden had tears in his eyes.
They began to sing to the song and because they were that close to the enemy in the opposite trenches they could hear the enemy singing along with them.
"Silent Night,Stille Nacht"
