Hi, been reading this site for a while and decided to join in so first post. I've always had an interest in WW11, in fact all history, but no specialised interests just history in general.
What was the furthest point east that german forces advanced to? I remember reading somewhere that the outskirts of Grozny were reached, a freind of mine says it was vladikavkaz.

Hello RobbieScot , here's what you've been looking for
01/11/1942 In their advance toward Ordshonikidse in the Caucasus, units of 3rd Panzer Corps capture Alagir on the upper Terek river.
02/11/1942 Bitter street fighting continues in Stalingrad with neither side making much progress. Due to increasing supply problems and the onset of winter, Army Group A's advance in to the Caucasus ends with the 13th Panzer Division of 3rd Panzer Corps being stopped 5 miles short of Ordshonikidze (Vladikavkaz), the southeastern-most point in Russia to be reached by the Wehrmacht.
Best Regards
