Is Wehrmacht Lexikon Reliable Enough?

General WWII era German military discussion that doesn't fit someplace more specific.

Is Wehrmacht Lexikon Reliable Enough?

Post by Fronturlauber »

Get the facts right - Wehrmachtslexikon.de !

I haven't been looking for errors but so many things are wrong. It's easy to find more mistakes but here are just two examples:

1) Look up their Stalingrad Karte or Map for December 1942. When did the Germans ever have an Infantry Division number 53?
Maybe my eyes are bad, I am getting old.

2) Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 281's Feld Post number is not 57171. According to my FP books it should be FPNr. 59107.

Be careful my friends :[]

Well, the map is from a book and thus the error was just passed on.
The Fp. is also according to my files wrong.

But every book, site etc.. written by human beings have errors. You will even find errors on original maps and documents.
I wouldn´t count such errors too much. The site has a huge amount of info usually reliable. I would pass your findings to the webmaster....
