Looking for a book.

Post by Jager01 »

I am looking for a book that is about different ethnicities in the Heer. It has English and German text. It was very interesting showed grainy pictures of Africans working along side of the DAK. I should of purchased it while I had the chance, but funds were low. Thank you.

Hello Jäger01!

One book that fits your description right down to the grainy photographs is Antonio J. Munoz' (Editor) "The East Came West: Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist Volunteers in the German Armed Forces 1941-1945" (Axis Europa Books 2001). This books deals in good detail (and with many photographs and illustrations) with this subject and there's a particular chapter on Arab volunteers in North Africa. A recommended book!

Come to think of it, the Munoz' book is not bi-lingual (it's just in english) so you must have seen the photographs in another book. Still a highly recommended book (;unoz) on this general subject.
