Some changes so far...

Post by Jason Pipes »

So far I have made the following updates (that I can tell you about 8) ) to the forum.

-Totally upgraded the forum software to the latest and greatest.
-Cleaned up the forum database (not done).
-A new system is in place to prevent fake user registration.
-Revamped the user name and avatar section of each post.
-Tweaked forum colors and layout (still in process).
-Added Tom as a moderator to various sections (more on the way).
-Added & updated smilies (people have been asking for this).

Please post and give me an idea if the forum you are seeing is whacked or otherwise strange or odd looking... I need to insure you are all seeing what I am seeing! :D

Could you please add a forum for WWII computer games, even though this is the German/Axis military forum sometimes you might want to talk about a WWII game, such as Panzer General maybe.

Jason,

The forum pages appear to load a little faster than before. I use DSL and things were never slow to start with but there seems to be a definite improvement.

Soldatenheim is where you can post messages on games and the like.

It looks good. Only glitch I experience is having to log back in all the time but that is because I am senile and forget my passwords!

Also, with the move to the new forum, make sure you clear your web browser cache, delete the history, etc, etc, then come back to the forum and relogin in. That will help reset any cookies that are sitting around from the older forum software version.

The "secret" changes are just certain updates made to the form software to help with security, admin, board control, etc, stuff like that. Stuff to make this a better place.

Well, I found one change that I liked better the old way. Up until recently, when you got a e-mail notification of a PM, you could read it in your mail. I liked being able to do that, because I always use the "Posts Since Last Visit" option, and I am often short of time. I could read the PMs without logging in.

I guess it's not that big a deal, but I liked it.

Hello Jason! ...and Tom and the Commissar!

I would just take the oppurtunity to applaud your choice of moderators. Tom and David will be a great tag team in this Forum and the changes in atmosphere are already noticeable, so keep up the good work! :D

And Jason...
and recently (gasp) play Dungeons & Dragons!
Oh, sweet memories...

With best regards,
