When Stalin opened the Second Front.....1939.

Post by tigre » Tue May 01, 2012 6:46 am

Hello to all :D; I think here is the right site to open this post as both sides were Allies after that (and after all)............

The Red Blitzkrieg. When Stalin opened the Second Front.........against Poland - September of 1939.

On September 17, 1939 between 05:00 and 07:00 hours the Bielorussian Front (Michail Kowalow) crossed the international border with Poland with the following armies: 3. Army (22º and 25º Armored Brigades), 11. Army (15º Tank Corps with 2º and 27º Armored Brigades and 20º Mot. Brigade) plus the 6º and 21º Armored Brigades and 4. Army (29º and 32º Armored Brigades), counting 878 T-26, 738 BT, 105 T-28 and 179 armored vehicles. The Commander of the 29º Armored Brigade was (a such) S.M. Kriwoszein.

Sources: Czerwony Blitzkrieg. J. Magnuski and M. Kolomijec. Warszawa 1994.

Starting with the Bielorussian Front ( more detailed OoB fully appreciated). Cheers. Raúl M 8).
