Pronunciation de Guingand?

Post by PaulJ »

Quick question -- can anyone comment upon the correct pronunciation of Freddie de Guingand's name?

I mean, of course, Major-General Sir Francis de Guingand, Monty's chief of staff, and the author of, amongst other works, Operation Victory (London: Hodder 1947).

Duh Gwinjj-and? Duh Gwin-Gand? Something else?

I don't know the answer directly, but I do know he's portrayed in the movie "Patton". Perhaps you could rent it? (Let's hope they simply don't call him "Freddie"!)
Cheers,

Patrick

When I was single, I had three theories on raising children. Now I have three children and no theories.
